Robert G. Harner, PE
Robert G. Harner, PE grew up in the family design and construction business in Ithaca, NY. At a young age he was building homes and commercial construction projects. With a strong construction background, he decided to enroll in the Construction Engineering program at the State University of New York, College of Technology at Alfred State where he received an Associate of Science degree in Construction Engineering. He continued his education at Rochester Institute of Technology where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Engineering.
After graduating college he worked for NASA at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida for close to three years as a Jr. Engineer in the facilities group while his wife received her master's degree.
Growing up in Ithaca, NY brought him back to the area he loves where he was successful in his career at a large Upstate New York engineering firm where he started as a technician and moved his way up the corporate ladder as the Director of Engineering and became a partner in the firm and a Member of the Board of Directors.
Robert has 20+ years’ of experience in corporate management, business development, client relations, project management, and engineering design. He has designed numerous storm water systems, culverts, detention ponds, above and below ground storage tanks, roadways, parking lots, underground utilities, retaining walls, and site development projects. Robert has extensive experience with private, commercial, institutional, and governmental agencies.
With a desire to get back to his roots as a builder, and being around the water where he grew up, Robert has successfully purchased and renovated two lakefront homes and a waterfront apartment building. To him this is just a hobby.
Robert is now dedicated to his own practice, Lakeside Engineering, where he specializes in lakefront development projects, civil, environmental, and structural engineering projects.
With his construction knowledge and design experience, Robert provides practical/responsive design solutions.
